BANANAS

... are not quite as simple as one may have thought.

One MUST wash the peel as it is often contaminated with pesticides and other germs and toxins.
The peel IS on the other hand VERY nutritious and ideal for mixing in smoothies and cakes.
DO NOT strip off the threads on the surface of the banana itself as they contain a LOT of nutritious elements.
DO NOT eat a banana on its OWN or with anything else sugary as they are high in NATURAL sugar and that can lead to a blood-sugar spike which is not good. Ideally eat with yogurt or in a rye bread sandwich or some such.
ONE banana a day gives plenty of sugar and potassium. TWO should be the maximum as excessive potassium is BAD.
DO NOT EAT a banana when the peel is GREEN. A few brownish spots are fine, but eating them when TOO ripe is ALSO bad even if they are still more or less edible.
